BARTH STUDIO
Los Angeles, California / Completed 2008

The space functions as a simple rectilinear volume with a single north-east facing clerestory window for natural daylighting. Two walls of the space are built out with cabinetry for storage, shelving, and working on digital files. The opposite walls act as viewing space for hanging photographs and testing colors in the daylit room.

The exterior of the building reads as a simple white volume, with a clerestory window performing as a glass skin extending along the entirety of the upper portion of the long side of the volume. The glass slips to the edges of the volume and the structure of the wood framing behind the glass is revealed. The exposed wood framing is expressed both inside and out and reveals the simplicity of the volume's construction.
